Anthony’s Pizza

Anthony’s Pizza in DeLand, FL is a reliable local Italian spot. I ordered the meatball sub and it was really good; hearty meatballs, tasty sauce, and plenty of cheese. The spaghetti and baked ziti my friends had were also solid and filling.

The food hits the spot every time. Service was okay and the atmosphere is a bit dated, but the generous portions and good flavors make it worth visiting. Solid 4-star choice for casual Italian in the area.

Blue Moon Tap House at Waterside was a major disappointment on the 4th of July. The restaurant was extremely hot inside (in the evening), and we were told the fryer was not working, severely limiting our menu options. We waited a long time for service that was very slow despite our waitress being really good. Many tables were reserved, leaving the place mostly empty. I ordered anyway, but then french fries arrived that had clearly been fried. The fries were disgusting with a strong burnt oil taste and smell. It seemed they told us the fryer was down simply to avoid changing the oil. My chicken BLT wrap was decent. Total letdown bringing family from out of town for fireworks at Waterside. Not sure if they want to stay in business with these issues.

Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego

The Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is a stunning property with incredible views. Our room offered breathtaking panoramas of the harbor and city skyline that made the stay memorable. The hotel itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and in a fantastic location right by the waterfront. That said, as a Globalist member I expected better service and breakfast quality. The breakfast meats were often either cold or overcooked, and we had to repeatedly ask for towels during our stay. These small issues were disappointing at this price point and loyalty level. Overall, the spectacular views and beautiful hotel still make it worth recommending for San Diego visitors. Just temper expectations on the dining and some service details.

High Ground Brewing is a winner! The beer is excellent, fresh, flavorful, and well-crafted. The food truck parked on-site served outstanding meals that paired perfectly with the brews. The brew master was friendly and knowledgeable. Love the rustic tap room, patriotic vibe, and outdoor seating area. Great spot for quality beer and solid food.
